Fix the Request Conditions
Keep protocol settings, authentication configuration, timeouts, retry limits, and request correlation identifiers in application configuration, and check the current platform documentation for the requirements that apply. Never write credentials to logs. When using NexoToken AI model API access, first confirm the selected model and its available parameters, then record which configuration version each request used. This makes later investigation more precise without implying any particular response behavior.
Record Correlatable Events
Assign an application-side correlation identifier and record request start and finish, outcome status, retry count, and appropriately limited usage information. Avoid logging credentials, complete prompts, or unreviewed response bodies. In a hypothetical timeout, the identifier can help you compare application logs with platform usage history; it cannot by itself establish the cause. Record timestamps and relevant deployment or configuration context so that a person investigating can distinguish a request that never completed from one whose client stopped waiting.
Parse Complete Responses and Streams
Read responses according to the protocol structure, validate required fields, and distinguish a valid result from an empty result or malformed data. For streaming, process data incrementally, recognize the protocol's completion signal, and preserve the state of content already received if the connection ends early. Check your implementation records against the protocol you actually use; do not treat partial output as a complete response. A useful hypothetical check is to feed a parser a response missing a required field and confirm that your application records a bounded, actionable error rather than silently accepting it.
Bound Failures and Verify Your Run
Set limits for retry count and total wait time. Retry only failures your policy classifies as retryable, and prevent concurrent retries from amplifying an outage. Use hypothetical inputs to exercise timeout, authentication failure, invalid response, and interrupted-stream paths; record the outcomes you actually observe and the conditions of each run. If platform error details or usage history differ from expectations, consult the current main platform documentation and verify request configuration before changing alert thresholds or operational procedures. Keep conclusions conditional on your own evidence: document what was checked, what remains unknown, and which follow-up observation would resolve the uncertainty.
